Member Support Grant

The Downtown Carleton Place BIA Member Support Grant is a micro-grant program designed to help BIA Members invest in projects that enhance the vitality, appearance, and visitor experience of Downtown Carleton Place.

Launched in 2026, the program provides small one-time grants to support initiatives that improve the downtown environment and encourage community engagement.

Grants support non-facade improvements that contribute to a vibrant, welcoming downtown for residents and visitors.

Funding Amount

Approved applicants may receive up to $500 for eligible projects.

Grants are intended as one-time contributions and cannot be used to cover ongoing operating expenses.

Priority Project Areas

Projects should support one or more of the following priorities:

Cleanliness & Safety

• Graffiti removal
• Window washing
• Junk or debris removal

Marketing & Promotion

• Social media campaigns
• Influencer partnerships
• Collaborative promotional initiatives

Temporary Beautification

• Seasonal lighting
• Floral displays
• Temporary decorative elements

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Be a Downtown Carleton Place BIA member business in good standing
• Propose a project that demonstrates a direct benefit to the downtown community
• Receive approval before the project begins

Ineligible Projects

Funding cannot be used for:

• Permanent structural renovations
• Debt repayment
• Regular or ongoing operating expenses
• Projects already completed without pre-approval
• Projects eligible for other programs such as the Facade Improvement Program or Community Improvement Plan (CIP) grants

Application & Approval

Applications are weighted according to the policy, and all eligible projects will be approved until funding is exhausted. The review process determines whether the proposed project aligns with program priorities.
