Braumeister Brewing Co. is a Bavarian-inspired craft brewery with a taproom and garden. Offering a new experience for beer lovers in and around the Nation’s capital, Braumeister is the place to enjoy quality beer and quality conversation.

The idea for Braumeister Brewing Co. first emerged while enjoying a drink during December of 2013, in arguably the best beer garden in Austria: Augustiner Bräu. Our founder, Rohit, had moved to Austria three months earlier to teach high school science. He quickly developed an appreciation for all the region has to offer, including some of the best beer in the world.

Rohit soon took to the tradition of socializing after work at the local beer garden. New to the country, he appreciated the friendly and welcoming community he found there. A large, stone wall surrounded the garden, which blocked out the noise of the city. Long tables, nestled among large chestnut trees, made it easy to make new friends every time he went. And the beer was always as crisp and refreshing as the first day he tried it.

When his parents came to visit in 2013, Rohit knew he had to bring them to his favourite beer garden, Augustiner Bräu. They enjoyed it so much that they went back the next night. They agreed there was something almost Canadian about the welcoming atmosphere. Yet, they lamented, there was nothing quite like it back in Ottawa. And so the idea of Braumeister Brewing Co. was born.

After a few years, Rohit made the move back to Ottawa, bringing his passion for beer with him. Ready to turn his dream of Braumeister into reality, he surrounded himself with experienced individuals in the industry. Their goal is to provide you with an authentic Bavarian experience right in your own backyard.
