The Grand Hotel

Built in 1872, The Grand Hotel has long been one of the focal points of Carleton Place’s landscape; the hotel and the Town Hall book-end Bridge Street in historical beauty.

The hotel was restored as a boutique wedding and events destination in 2017. The interior is elegant and timeless, emulating the history of the building and matching the sophistication of the exterior façade. The hotel features 16 rooms, a banquet hall, a fine dining restaurant, pub and a rich history.

The Grand is owned and operated by a team of highly experienced people. Couple Janice Mathers and Joel Schramek own Evermore Weddings and Events in Almonte and saw an excellent opportunity to create a sister-venue, allowing out-of-town wedding guests to stay in the area rather than in Ottawa.

The executive caterer, Rod Scribner was the mastermind being high-profile eatery SALT in Ottawa before coming to The Grand. Janice and Rod are also the people behind Boulton House, the Italian restaurant located behind Town Hall on Mill Street. The team also includes Steve Moodie who has 30 years of experience in the restaurant industry.

Attached to the hotel is Smith & Barrel Pub and Eatery, an old-English style pub. Smith & Barrel features two beautifully decorated floors and an outdoor patio for dining. It’s the perfect place to try a unique adaption on gastro-pub fare or choose from an expansive selection of craft cocktails and spirits to suit any taste.

Offering so much beauty and heritage, The Grand Hotel is the perfect space for weddings, special events, parties or a romantic overnight stay right in the heart of downtown Carleton Place.
