Seeking volunteers for the BIA Bridge Street Bazaar

The Carleton Place BIA is seeking volunteers for the BIA Bridge Street Bazaar on Saturday July 30th.   There are two shifts one is morning from 7:00 am until 9:00 am and the second shift is from 4:00 pm until 5:30 pm. Traffic control (adults) 4 people needed for morning shift and 4 people needed for the afternoon shift. Students are needed to assist with setting up tents and assisting vendors unload their materials and other odd jobs that may arise in the morning.   The second shift beginning at 4:00 pm will be to dismantle canopy tents and help with removing

It’s all about TEAM WORK this summer!

 The Carleton Place BIA has once again purchased over one hundred 20’’ hanging baskets to adorn our downtown this summer season. The baskets will be hung on Saturday May 30th and the following week you will begin to see the planters filled with colour. The Town of Carleton Place and the BIA are teaming up to have a student work 20 hours a week downtown keeping the weeds and litter under control. New mural in tribute to Carleton Place icon, “Wandering Wayne”

On March 8, 2016, Carleton Place lost an icon. Wayne Richards, better known to most Carleton Place residents as “Wandering Wayne”, passed away at age 81 years. Wayne was a Downtown Carleton Place fixture, making the outside of The Queens Hotel, the place he would stand for hours and quietly observe the people and happenings. Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics

Torch Run for Special Olympics kicks off May 30 On Monday, May 30th the Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics begins its journey through the Ottawa Valley. Officers with the OPP, Ottawa Police Service, Provincial Corrections, RCMP and other law enforcement partners, along with local Special Olympians will be running and walking through communities raising funds for, and awareness of, Special Olympics. “CARLETON PLACE CARES” Fort McMurray $5 BBQ Fundraiser

The Beckwith Butcher and Y101.1 are hosting a $5 BBQ Fundraiser on Tuesday May 10th from 3 – 6pm at 1 Costello Dr. in Carleton Place Y101.1 will be covering the event and The Beckwith Butcher is donating the meat including hamburgers, hot dogs, pulled pork and maple chipotle sausages.  Giant Tiger is donating drinks, Betty Bread is donating buns and Mitchell’s Independent Grocers is donating condiments. All proceeds will go directly to the Red Cross Fort McMurray Wildfire Fund which the Federal Government has pledged to match dollar for dollar.
