The Carleton Place BIA promotes the downtown as a business and shopping area, not just a group of individual shops, restaurants and offices. Our mandate is twofold; beautification and promotion. Our ongoing floral beautification, seasonal banner program, and decorative lighting, add to the vibrant streetscape. We use promotional activities and special events to keep downtown Carleton Place at the forefront of the public eye.
The Lanark County Food Bank (LCFB) began serving the community in October 1988, when a group of concerned Carleton Place residents recognized the problems of hunger created by the recession of the 1980’s. The LCFB is a member of the Ontario Association of Food Banks and is a registered charity. Every month in 2014 the Lanark County Food Bank issued, on average, 14,000 pounds of food and fed over 600 clients—over 220 were children. We are supported solely by private donations and receive no support from any level of government. The LCFB serves: Carleton Place, Mississippi Mills (Almonte, Clayton, Pakenham, Appleton, Blakeney), Franktown, Ashton, Innisville, and White Lake.
The LCFB is open Monday 5-7, Tuesday 9-1, Wednesday 5-7, Thursday & Friday 9-12.
